10 Signs Your Dog Is Truly Happy at Home

10 Signs Your Dog Is Truly Happy at Home

Is my dog happy at home is always a question that plagues the mind of a dog parent. They do not know our language but they speak in so many other beautiful ways. Their tail and their eyes and their behaviour and even their little ways. At the beginning of my dog parenting experience, I used to overthink. I was concerned in case my dog slept too much. If he was too quiet, I worried. I gradually came to know his indications. In case you also would like to know whether your furry friend is happy and at home, this article would assist you. Let us consider 10 obvious indicators that reveal that your dog is indeed happy at home. 1. Body resting and Wagging Tail.

Body resting and Wagging Tail.

This is the most obvious sign. A happy dog usually has:

  •  A relaxed body
  •  Soft eyes
  •  naturally wagging tail
It is not always fast wagging of the tail. They can wag slowly, mildly, but they wag. When the body of your dog appears not tight or tense but rather slack and relaxed, then you cannot doubt the fact that your dog is safe in your home.

2. They Dine Well and Take Moderate Drink.

An active dog is a very good indicator of a happy one.

If your dog:

  •  Eats without being scared of their food.
  •  Drinks water properly
It means they are comfortable in their environment. This is to say that they feel at home. Naturally, occasionally the dogs do not take their meal because of mood or weather variations. However, in most cases a happy dog likes food time.
3. They Sleep Peacefully

They Sleep Peacefully

Did you see your dog lying on his back with his belly exposed?
That is a big sign of trust. Dogs sleep soundly when they are safe. They can either be fully extended or coiled up. In my situation, when my dog started sleeping in front of my bed, rather than hide in a corner, I knew that he felt at home. Comfy sleep = Emotional wellbeing. 4. They Get Excited When You come Home.

They Get Excited When You come Home.

Your dog will be responding as though you have been back after 10 days even with a brief 10 minutes outing. Jump, wagging tail, small due happy sounds all this demonstrates attachment and happiness. A dog is happy when it welcomes you back home, which means that your presence makes them feel safe. 5. They Play Often A playful dog is generally a cheerful dog. Signs include:
  • Bringing toys to you
  • Running around happily
  • Play-bowing (put down legs front, put up legs back).
  • Zoomies around the house
When stressed or unhappy, dogs do not play in an active manner.

When your dog takes the initiative to play, then you know that it is on the relaxed side of the mind.

6. They Follow You Around

They Follow You Around

Does your dog follow you through the kitchen to bedroom to balcony? Bonding can be observed in this behaviour. They are not merely being tight fisted. They enjoy your company. A dog would prefer to be close to the human being when they are emotionally stable. It might seem comical at times but it is a beautiful expression of love. 7. They Show Curiosity A happy dog is curious. They:
  • Sniff new things
  • Explore rooms
  • Observe outside sounds
  • Respond to visitors in an interested manner.
Dogs may run away or conceal themselves in case they are scared or not happy. Curiosity means confidence.
8. They respond positively to training. A dog is responsive when it is safe and happy. They:
  • Listen to commands
  • Try to understand you
  • Show focus during training
It is also easier to train a dog that likes you. Even simple instructions such as sit or stay done happily depict positive emotional state.

9. They Show Affection Love in all dogs is different. Some:
  • Lick your hand
  • Rest their head on your lap
  • Sit close to you
  • Gently lean against you
Such little things indicate an emotional attachment to your dog. My dog is always fond of resting his paw on my leg when he wants to be paid attention. It is such a little gesture, which makes my heart melt. One of the most evident indications of happiness is affection.

10. They Have a Healthy Routine Happy dog normally has a consistent life. They:
  • Wake up at regular times
  • Enjoy walk time
  • Rest after playing
  • Eat at fixed hours
Emotional stability is manifested when their daily life is balanced. As long as your dog appears to be okay with the everyday routine, then your home environment is okay.

Additional Indications of Emotional Comfort.

Besides the key indicators, the following are some of the bonus

Indicators:

  • They make soft eye contact
  • They sigh and relax near you
  • They stretch in front of you
  • They do not hide frequently

These are implicit behaviours, which reveal profound trust.

What to Do When Your Dog is Not displaying such

 signs?

If you feel your dog is:

  • Too quiet
  • Avoiding interaction
  • Not eating properly
  • Showing fear constantly

At that point perhaps it is time to make a close watch or call a vet.

There are times when minor changes such as:

  •  More playtime
  •  Better diet
  •  A fixed routine
  •  Extra affection

Can improve their mood.

It is important to remember that dogs are extremely sensitive to our feelings as well.

When we are gentle and affectionate they are safe.

                          Final Thoughts

Finding the luxury home is unnecessary to your dog. They need:

  • Love
  • Safety
  • Routine
  • Care
  • Your time

A happy dog is not flawless or even always active. They are just chilled, safe and emotionally attached to you.

When you see the majority of these signs, then you can be sure that the dog is a happy boy at home. ❤️🐾
